Christian Gift Place
Sun, 31 Jan 2010 11:49:49 +0000This is why I usually tell people if they are going to get me something for the holidays, I say it has to be one of the following: money, gift cards, gift certificates, or a bunch of Magic the Gathering cards. That way, I do not get a bunch of holiday gifts that I do not want. However, there are plenty of things you can do with holiday gifts that you do not want in the first place.
Do not be discouraged if somebody gave you a crappy gift or something else that you do not really want. It is not the end of the world. Remember, there are many things you can do and so forth.
GIVE AWAY
There are plenty of people that have not gotten anything for the holidays. In a sense, they feel neglected and forgotten. Why not give them the presents you did not want? Just do not tell them that these were presents given to you. By giving them presents, it shows them that they are not forgotten. So that is one thing you can do with such holiday gifts that you do not want.
DONATE
This could pretty much be the same as giving away. You can donate to the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and other places. There are a bunch of churches and local organizations that are willing to take those unwanted gifts to give to the needy. You will be doing a lot of good by giving away those unwanted presents. That is one way of donating a present and so forth.
This can also be applied donating to a fundraiser. You can put it up as an item for auction. People can bid and so forth for that unwanted holiday present you have. Or, you can give it to a charity to do a raffle. Either way, you will be helping out with a good cause.
EXCHANGE
There are presents that you could exchange at the respective stores for an item or several items of equal value. Or, you could get a refund provided that you have a receipt for those unwanted holiday gifts.
My friend received a bunch of Christian music CDs for Christmas several years ago. His parents were trying to get him into Christian music. Apparently, the music was not to his liking. He simply asked for the receipt.
If they do not do refunds, you could possibly get store credit.
SELL
You can sell it off to a pawn shop or some other store. But, that is not usually the best way to go. You may want to get as much money off of those items as possible. One good way would be to auction or sell them off of eBay. Then you can get a good sum of money off the unwanted Christmas presents.
RE-GIFTING
If you can get away with it, you can possibly re-gift and give them to other people. However, make sure you do not re-gift and give them to the same people that gave you those gifts in the first place.
But, these are simply a few ideas on what you want to do with such unwanted holiday gifts. What you want to do with those holiday presents is solely up to you. To be on the safe side, tell them to give you cash or gift cards.
nobleday By the grace of God and Christ, I am a Christian believer. I was raised to believe in sacrificing wisdom for the sake of the greater love. This is what has defined me practically from early childhood. This is how I interpret the living Spirit of Christ. This is also how I interpret the message of the cross. I have a distrust of wisdom for the man under the sun, simly because Christ taught that he was greater than king Solomon, and therefore proclaimed a wisdom greater than that of king Solomon. My belief colors everything I approach. It is what defines me and what comes natural to me. I part ways with the fool, the wicked, and even with the wise when they give pre-eminence to wisdom over the greater love. Since the wise are loathe to sacrifice wisdom for the sake of the greater love, I have found it best to keep an arms legth from the wise and allow them to live their lives in a parallel reality. I leave it up to Christ to sort it out and to convince them of why wisdom is not the way to eternal life, nor the way to discover the meaning and significance of the cross. Let them have their peace, their wealth, prosperity, and the prolongation of their lives. View my complete profile
