Las Vegas is one of the most visited cities in the United States. There are several reasons why people want to go to Nevada and experience the magnificence of Sin City. It is a place full of life, glamour, and eccentricity!

Popularized in movies and TV shows as the place you can get married to via an Elvis impersonator, along with people in casinos who are dressed to kill, the mobsters’ haven, there is really more to this city than meets the eye. This city was named by the Spaniards as “Las Vegas”, which would pertain to the meadows that was once part of Mexico and was a railroad town back in the year 1905. It was also part of Lincoln County. This is until the Railroads of Senator William Clark was auctioned in 1909 and established the region as the new Clark County. Finally, on the year 1911, Las Vegas became an incorporated city and became the seat of Clark County.
At current, it holds many titles for different people. It is famously known as the wedding capital, entertainment capital, casino capital of the world, and thus, Las Vegas is also known as Sin City because most of the vices are found here.

Hence, the rich landscape of Las Vegas makes it a place where tourists not only go for gambling, shopping, and entertainment. There are also several parks in the area. Where in, you can actually do some outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, and even skiing!

  1. Just resign already so we don’t have to hear this worthless story anymore.

    Comment by Fiscal Sanity — March 3rd, 2010 @ 4:15 pm

  2. Just in the nick of time.

If Paterson weren’t being eaten alive by his own Democrat party, would the Commission On Public Integrity and NYPIRG have brought this issue to light?

Andy Cuomo is obviously pulling strings all over town.

    Comment by gary condit — March 3rd, 2010 @ 4:32 pm

  3. Now he wants to coerce the Commission on Public Integrity to change their findings! He doesn’t get it!! Resign and save whatever little respect people have for you! You are dragging the State down in the hearts and minds of the workforce and making the entire State look foolish! Grow Up already be a man and resign!

    Comment by Concerned State Worker — March 3rd, 2010 @ 4:36 pm

  4. Somehow no one investigated all the times Giuliani was comped tickets.

    Comment by D3 — March 3rd, 2010 @ 5:55 pm

  5. The idiot is leading our state and doesnt have a lawyer for this??? Is he kidding me? Isnt his dad hooked up???? Time to go David, we in NY are not all suckers.

    Comment by Cbeme — March 3rd, 2010 @ 5:58 pm

  6. The law was changed after Guiliani left office. Unions cannot even invite politicians to dinner, anything more than a cup of coffee or a soft drink is now considered a gift and is no longer allowed.

    Comment by Upstate — March 3rd, 2010 @ 6:17 pm

  7. Shall we call you Governor Pi . . . .never-ending incompetence? All of this stupidity is wearing me out.

    Comment by justicetsc — March 3rd, 2010 @ 6:20 pm

  8. No Lawyer..Is his father ..Basil Paterson ..who represents the UNIONS in NY disbarred or something?? And who needs Paterson?? Is that some “special” skill giving away the store to the unions to the tune of BILLIONS we don’t have to spend..handing out RAISES to the unions.. Giving away the store to the UNIONS.. Destroying the state with RECORD TAX INCREASES..Is that some “special’ skill???

    Comment by Dave — March 3rd, 2010 @ 6:29 pm

  9. Shocked and chagrined, eh Generalissimo Publico?

The public is to blame for the government of this state: you get what you vote for.

    Comment by mh — March 3rd, 2010 @ 6:30 pm

  10. Stop crying. Governor Patterson had an ideal opportunity to make a name for himself when he first took office. At that time he asked everyone to resign from their appointed post. He should have cleaned house at that time and brought in a new team to push the state in the right direction. Instead the only person let go was the person Corbitt replaced. Now the chickens have come home to roost. I hope Sylvia Hatcher, Melodie Mayberry-Stewart, Rico Simpleton and all the other do nothing executives are packing their bags along with Patterson. If the next Governor keeps the same old people around he will end up with the same old results. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I think it is time to get rid of all the Dems, all the men in NYS politics and lets bring SARAH in. I am sure she will clean up NYS. Hell it has gone under so far that noone can afford to live in this state. Why not drop a bomb on NYS and then it will be all gone? There is going to be nothing left pretty soon anyway by the time these crooked politicians and their friends get everything from all the honest, hard-working taxpayers of NYS.Hell some of them don’t even have to pay taxes and can get away with it. Pretty soon most New Yorkers will get the picture and get out of here. There is nothing but garbage ruuning this state. I think all the Dems are afraid of SARAH. It would be very interesting.

  13. Guv-
Better check the yellow pages and find yourself a lawyer.
If you did the crime, you have to face the time.
At least you know enough to hide behind an ongoing investigation and therefore can’t tell your story [now]. Others will and the curtain will come down on this mess.
    What an shame for NYS.

  14. Real Truth, did you by chance work at OFT?

    Comment by PedrO — March 3rd, 2010 @ 8:36 pm

  15. Why would PAterson mention retire? Resign is what we want. His refusal to retire gives me the impression that there’s some magic date he has not yet reached to make retirement a viable option. What’s his anniversary date? Does he have 30 years in yet? Let him finish out his state time out in Gowanda.

    Comment by Tony In Albany — March 3rd, 2010 @ 8:46 pm

  16. When will that guy get it??? He surrounded himself with incompetent staff, affiliated himself with a caucus of incompetents in the Legislature, and he is (seemingly) incapable of understanding that his political future is measured in MINUTES!! November will bring us election results that have never been seen in the history of New York State.

Sadly, the biggest losers in all of this are the minority groups who have advocated for decades only to see their movement set back at least 25 years by the antics of Paterson, Smith, Espada, Monserrate, and Diaz (to mention only a few). And let us not forget their brethren, Sharpton and Rangel.

    Comment by lathamguy — March 3rd, 2010 @ 8:50 pm

  17. The Times Union should list the current Guvs executive staff in NYC and Albany including names, titles and salaries plus the cost of the state police assigned, vehicles, chauffers, the cost of persons staying at the mansion including maid and food service, bar tabs and other mansion expenses to get an idea of just how much will be saved when this lyin’ drug takin’ bimbo nuzzling Pinnochio of a Governor is forced to go packing.

Mr Ravitch it is your duty to ensure that once you become our next unelected Governor that none of these sycophant varments remain on the state payroll – the whole state and nation are watching this 3 ring circus of insanity. Clean house immediately. Make sure none of the guilty receive one cent of state paid legal assistance when they face the music. Restore our faith in our state government. Don’t let Shelly push you into another disasterous secretly negotiated budget – let the people see what the real issues are, the options available and how difficult decisions in cutting the budget are made. Otherwise you are just another political hack.

    Comment by Publius — March 4th, 2010 @ 12:17 am

  18. Paterson is staying so that he can buy more favors with the upcoming budget. He will set himself up nicely with various give aways, and then he will retire, with about $67,000 pension and what ever job he buys himself into. That job will surely be downstate, maybe working for Espada, and upstate will pay for it.

McEneny and Breslin need to do the right thing this time.

    Comment by Upstate — March 4th, 2010 @ 6:40 am

  19. SARAH! LOL.

She’s a little too busy shopping around her ideas for a reality TV show and raiding the gift suite at the Oscars…

  20. No Pedro never worked for OFT, but know a lot of good people who suffered at the hands of those incompetent fools. The worse thing you can do for African-Americans is to hire one just for the sake of diversity. Such was the case with MMS and her cronies. How do you replace people with advanced degrees in computer science with someone with no degree or a degree from DeVry? How do keep a job this long when you have no identifiable accomplishments? MMS and Rico Simpleton spend all their time nominating each other for awards.

    Comment by the real truth1981 — March 4th, 2010 @ 9:57 am

  21. …#17 Publius….it would be a great idea … we the citizens of NYS are entitled to this information in regards to the expenses currently being wasted on frivolity & the inept officials currently in office …

…from what I’ve read in regards to Mr. Ravitch’s comments he..at this time doesn’t appear anxious to take over the government reins ..I feel using his supposed loyalty to Paterson as an excuse to not take over the Titanic

..if Ravich does take over we will be facing the same “cyclical” path of the inability to vote for a Governor until the election of which Mr. Ravich wants no part of…..

..in this particular situation though I think we should hope that Ravich “will” take over for now….let’s call it the “lesser of two evils”…maybe but what other choice do we have?…Jill…myohmy

Top 10 Stupid Sarah Palin Quotes…

“As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.” –Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska’s proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS’s Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008 (Watch video clip)

    2. “The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.” –-Sarah Palin, in a message posted on Facebook about Obama’s health care plan, Aug. 7, 2009

    3. “All of ‘em, any of ‘em that have been in front of me over all these years.” –Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)

    4. “Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―” –Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)

    5. “We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. … We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation.” –Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensoboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008

    6. “[T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.” –Sarah Palin, getting the vice president’s constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008 (Watch video clip)

    7. “They are kooks, so I agree with Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh was using satire … I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with ‘f-ing retards,’ and we did know that Rahm Emanuel, as has been reported, did say that. There is a big difference there.” –Sarah Palin, attempting to rationalize why it’s okay for Limbaugh to use the word “retards” but not Emanuel, FOX News Sunday interview, Feb. 7, 2010

    8. “Who calls a shot like that? Who makes a decision like that? It’s a disturbing trend.” –Sarah Palin, pushing a conspiracy theory that “In God We Trust” had been moved to the edge of coins by the Obama administration (the change was made by the Bush administration in 2007 and was later reversed by Congress, before Obama took office), West Allis, Wisconsin, Nov. 6, 2009

I’ll take the NY politicians , thanks anyway !

  23. #12, not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but I’ll take the bait. I LOVE Palin’s character and values, 92% of pregnant women who are told they are carrying a child with Down’s syndrome terminate their pregnancy, (stats from Columbia Univ). Palin was one of the 8%. Liberals love to beat Palin up, because of her values and her character, and the fact that she’s still married to the father of her 5 kids. Charges of domestic abuse cover-up and free World Series tickets don’t follow Palin. Does anyone think values, ethics & character aren’t missing in politics, yet Palin lacks the intellect to run for President. Scribbling notes on her hand tells me so.
