Birthday Cheap Gift Mom

My beautiful mother celebrated her birthday on January 4th. For her birthday she requested a handmade lanyard for her work badge. She works as a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines and the company colors are purple, black and white. They’re required to wear a lanyard, but that lanyard must be able to break away if someone tried to grab it so that they don’t get choked.
I had a very hard time finding a magnetic clasp that was strong enough to hold the weight of her badge and everything else she has to carry on the lanyard, but that would also break away easily if pulled. The best solution I came up with was to use the clever clasp. It’s a magnet that also has two twists. If pulled hard enough, it will come apart, but under normal use, it should be strong enough to hold.
Here are some photos of the finished product:
She received it this past week and really liked it. If you need a custom lanyard for anything, drop me a line at divinecreations4u (at) gmail (dot) com.
Our son was born a year ago and entered the NICU while his lungs developed a little more. After a few days on the CPAP and then another on a light bed (jaundice) we finally took him home and began to adjust to our now family of 4.I was delighted to throw a party for him, to recognize his life. I was torn as to what theme of party to throw for him. I think he's the prince next to our princess and that would have been a lot of fun. But, we went a diferrent direction. My husband and I recently enjoyed the Lakers play the Cavaliers, my husband being a Lakers fan of course. I thought it would be fun to work from that theme, especially since I knew my husband would enjoy that a tad more. My husband is a good sport but getting him 'syked' for something is extra sweet!
I should also mention that we had the worst storm of this winter season. Although some folks were unable to attend we still had a great turnout.
Here are some decorations:
I handmade this sign utlizing what I had learned from some amazing blogs I frequent. I sooo look forward to making another now that I have worked out the kinks.
